Drifts is a creative writing game, so there are many different ways to approach it.
One approach is to play the game as way to disrupt your own creative writing practice. A generally rewarding way to play is to always try to produce the most interesting document you can. Your experience will be shaped by how you choose to interpret the prompts, to 'lean in' or out of their suggestions. The game works best when you 'write for' the changing medium and allow the systems you encounter to shape your approach.
Understanding how a given editor works will change the way you use it. Sometimes an editor is meant to offer resistance or surprise, but on the other hand, using it with more expertise may lead to better results. You may want to experiment with a few attempts at authoring it before continuing to that page. You can always return later to continue experimenting.
